First published in 1989, the journal Encuentro is part of the Encuentro Project aimed at training teachers of second and foreign languages. This Project was formulated after analysing the state of language teaching in the province of Guadalajara, Spain, and gave rise to a series of 13 Language Teacher Encounters between 1987 and 2003, which were mainly addressed at basic and secondary level teachers.
The goals of Encuentro are didactic and methodological training, together with the development of reflection and classroom research on the part of language teachers. These goals also govern the content of the journal: applied linguistics, language teaching and learning, the presentation of research and innovations, values and interculturality, literature teaching, and related matters.
